ZEST strengthens connections with the bioeconomy research community at IBBC

Partner CTA represented the project throughout the three-day International Conference on Bioenergy & Bioeconomy in Seville, engaging with academia and research stakeholders and sharing the project’s progress and emerging results.

Spanish partner CTA attended the three days of the International Conference on Bioenergy & Bioeconomy (IBBC 2026), held from 28 to 30 October at the University of Seville, Spain.

The conference brought together researchers, research organisations, industry representatives and other stakeholders working across the bioenergy and bioeconomy value chains, with sessions addressing topics such as circular bioeconomy, biochemical conversion and biomanufacturing, digitalisation and artificial intelligence, industrial scale-up, regional bioeconomy ecosystems and technology transfer.

These areas are closely connected to ZEST’s work on fungal fermentation, alternative proteins and the valorisation of agro-industrial side streams.

Turning research into opportunity

Having now passed the halfway point of its implementation, ZEST is increasingly focused on sharing the knowledge and results generated by the consortium and strengthening links with stakeholders that can contribute to their dissemination, uptake and future exploitation.

CTA’s participation in IBBC 2026 therefore focused particularly on engaging with universities, research centres and researchers, presenting ZEST’s mission, technological approach and emerging results during networking activities and informal exchanges. These conversations helped raise awareness of the project, identify common areas of interest and explore potential synergies with actors working across the European and international bioeconomy research ecosystem.
