Privacy Policy

1. Scope and responsability of data processing

This privacy policy applies to all personal data collected as part of the dissemination and co-innovation activities within the ZEST project, supported by the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) , a €2 billion partnership between the European Union and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC) that funds projects advancing competitive circular bio-based industries under Horizon Europe, the EU’s research and innovation programme. CBE JU is the legal and universal successor of BBI JU.

The ZEST project, co-funded by the European Union under Grant Agreement No. 101157382, is the entity responsible for processing this data. 

The user must carefully read this privacy policy and decide freely if he/she intends to provide his/her personal data to the ZEST project before communicating data. The user affirms that they are of legal age and that the data they have communicated is true, accurate, complete, and current, accepting responsibility for any nonconformity. If the communicated data is the property of a third party, the user ensures that they have informed the third party about the conditions outlined in this document and have received permission to provide their data to the ZEST project for the specified purposes.

2. Purposes of the treatment and legal basis

The personal data collected through this website are intended to allow the following operations:

Participation in workshops, seminars, conferences and webinars organized by the CBE JU project ZEST;

Participation in surveys, questionnaires or similar enquiries, organized by the CBE JU project ZEST;

ZEST’s communications, such as newsletters, service news, technical articles, event information or other related activities.

The processing of personal data is necessary to carry out the aforementioned operations.

3. Recipients

According to a written agreement between the parties, the ZEST project may communicate the user’s personal data to a suitable service provider it has contracted. This service provider will use the data exclusively for the purposes the ZEST project has established and in accordance with its instructions, strictly adhering to the legal rules on data protection, information security, and other applicable standards.

4. Cookies

If you leave a message on our site, your name and email address will be saved in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

Google Analytics 4 provides a web analytics service for this portal. Cookies (small text files stored locally on your computer) are used to help analyse how visitors use this portal. Servers in Spain will store the collected information, including your IP address.

ZEST and Google Analytics 4 will use this information to generate reports on portal usage. ZEST and Google Analytics 4 will only share the collected information with third parties when legally required to do so.

ZEST and Google Analytics will not combine your IP address with those of other websites or other data sources.

5. International data transfer

The ZEST project will process user data in its entirety within the territory of the European Economic Area (EEA) and therefore does not provide for any international transfer of data.

6. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

7. Shelf life

The ZEST project will keep user data for the time needed to achieve its goals.

The ZEST project will preserve this data for the duration of its legal obligations.

The ZEST project may also retain the data beyond these periods for statistical purposes, anonymising them in the process.

8. User rights

In accordance with the laws governing the processing of personal data, the user has the right to request access to their personal data, its rectification or deletion, the limitation of their treatment, the right to object to their treatment, and the right to portability of their data.

To exercise the aforementioned rights, the user may contact the data controller through the addresses indicated in section 1 of this policy. 9. Futher information

The entities in the consortium implementing the ZEST project have all signed a consortium agreement in which they agree to ensure that their collection, processing, and sharing of personal data and/or special category data are in compliance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 (the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)) and other applicable regulations on personal data.

ZEST is furthermore part of the EU’s Open Research Data Pilot (ORDP).
